Owaisi Calls For 'Khichdi' Govt, Weak PM In 2024 Elections, Says Country's Poor Can Be Benefitted

Taking a dig at some top leaders for allegedly betraying the cause of secularism, Owaisi targeted Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in his fresh remarks.

New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi while making a statement on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and said that even if a weak PM takes charge and a mix-and-match government is formed, they should do something for the weaker sections of the country.

“BJP has around 306 MPs but PM still complains that the system doesn't allow him to work... what more power do you want to be able to help poor, farmers and youth? It'll be better that a 'Khichdi' govt forms and a weak PM comes to power, so that the country's poor can benefit,” news agency ANI quoted Owaisi as saying.

Taking a dig at some top leaders for allegedly betraying the cause of secularism, Owaisi also targeted Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee in his fresh remarks.

“Nitish Kumar became CM while being with BJP. He was with BJP during Godhra pogrom. He left them in 2015, went back in 2017 & contested 2019 polls to make Narendra Modi win. He left them now. Mamata Banerjee was earlier in NDA and praised RSS,” ANI quoted him as saying.

“When we speak of development of minority communities and justice for them, nonsense is spoken against us. This is hypocrisy in a way that those posing as experts of secularism today will decide who's secular and who's communal. The country is watching them,” the AIMIM chief further added.

It is to be noted that CM Nitish Kumar quit the alliance with BJP last month to join the rainbow alliance in Bihar.

Kumar’s joining with RJD has once again brought the spotlight back on Opposition unity ahead of the general elections.

Kumar visited the national capital earlier this week where he met senior Opposition leaders, including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi.
