Security Personnel Testing Positive For Covid 19 Will Not Be Allowed Inside State: Sikkim Govt

The Sikkim government has announced that it will not allow security personnel who test positive for the virus inside the state.

New Delhi: Sikkim government has announced that it will not allow security personnel including those from the Army and the paramilitary forces into the state if they have tested positive for coronavirus. A report by PTI says that only those who test negative in the Rapid antigen tests being conducted in the Rangpo border will be allowed in the state.ALSO READ| World Continues To Reel Under Covid-19 Attack As WHO Reports Record Spike Of New 2.28 Lakh Cases In Last 24 Hrs "Those testing positive for COVID-19 during the rapid antigen tests will not be allowed to enter Sikkim and will be sent back to quarantine centres from where they came," said Director General-cum-Secretary of the Health Department, Dr. Pemba T Bhutia in the report. The state is a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases after enjoying a covid free condition for several months. So far, the state has seen a total of 134 cases with 54 active cases. Over three dozen security personnel in the state have tested positive for the virus. ALSO READ| Psoriasis Injection Cleared For 'Restricted Use' To Treat COVID Patients; Check The List Of Other Antiviral Drugs According to an earlier report by PTI, on Monday, July 6, the Sikkim government had also asked the Army and the paramilitary forces to start random testing before they travel back to their postings in the state. The chief secretary of the state S C Gupta had informed about this to senior officers of the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and the General Engineering Reserve Force (GREF).
