Agni-Prime, New Generation Ballistic Missile, Successfully Flight-Tested
India flight-tested the new generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
India on Thursday successfully conducted a flight tested the new generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime. The testing was launched from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha, the defence ministry said in a press release on Thursday. The ministry said the test flight was carried out on Wednesday evening.
"Strategic Forces Command (SFC), along with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted the successful flight test of New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni-Prime from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha at around 1900 hrs on April 03, 2024," the ministry said.

Validating its reliable performance, the ministry said the test met all the trial objectives, as confirmed by the data captured by many range sensors deployed at different locations.
"Strategic Forces Command (SFC), along with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted the successful flight-test of new generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha at around 1900 hours on April 3," the defence ministry said.
The launch was conducted in the presence of Gen Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Strategic Forces Command and other senior officials from the department. It was also attended by the officials of the Indian Army.
Congratulating DRDO, SFC and the Armed Forces for the successful test, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the development and induction of the missile will be an excellent force multiplier for the Armed Forces.
"Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has congratulated DRDO, SFC and the Armed Forces for the successful test. He stated that the successful development and induction of the missile will be an excellent force multiplier for the Armed Forces," the statement said.
The Chief of Defence Staff General Chauhan and the Chairman of DRDO, Samir V Kamat, commended the joint efforts of the SFC and DRDO.
