NEET PG Counselling 2021: Doctors' Strike Over Delay To Be Called Off Today, Says FORDA President

“Patients are already suffering, many surgeries deferred. Considering this situation they are calling off the strike at 12 pm today,” the FORDA President added.

New Delhi: Resident doctors of Delhi have been protesting for days against the delay in NEET PG counselling. To converge authorities’ attention towards their demands, the resident doctors of Delhi went on a strike suspending even the emergency medical duties. But now they have decided to call off their strike. Dr Manish, President of the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association said that the strike will be called off today at 12 pm.

“We had a meeting with Joint CP last night. Withdrawal of FIR process started (in connection with ITO protest). After 12 pm today we'll call off our strike against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling,” Manish said

Earlier this week on Tuesday, the FORDA had proposed three demands to end their protest. They demanded that the authorities should ensure resident doctors for the date of counselling just after the Supreme Court’s hearing on January 6. They also demanded that the authorities apologise for the manhandling that the police did with the protesting resident doctors and to withdraw FIRs registered against the protestors.

Resident doctors from several hospitals had staged a march against the delay in NEET PG counselling near Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Monday, when reports of police manhandling came out.

In the light of this incident, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had held a press conference and said that the process of NEET PG counselling could not be completed as the matter was sub-judice in the Supreme Court.
