WATCH | MP Minister Gets Airlifted By IAF After Trying To Rescue People Stuck In Datia

The minister was on a survey of the flood-affected Datia district when he received information about nine people who were stranded on the roof of a house that was completely surrounded by water.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh State Home Minister Narottam Mishra while on a visit to the flood-affected areas of Madhya Pradesh, got himself stuck and had to be airlifted out by the Indian Air Force.

The minister was on a survey of the flood-affected Datia district when he received information about nine people who were stranded on the roof of a house that was completely surrounded by water.

Mishra reached the spot in a boat but according to reports before he was able to rescue the stranded people, a tree fell on the boat. The minister was then airlifted by India Air Force(IAF) helicopters.

Sharing a video he wrote on his Twitter, "In Datia as soon as the information of 9 people being trapped in the floods of Sindh river in Kotra village of the assembly constituency, immediately reached the spot by boat. Here the flood water had reached the second floor in the houses of the people. The people trapped in the floods were immediately rescued by an Air Force helicopter."

One column each of the Indian Army was deployed in flood-affected districts on August 3. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force also conducted rescue operations across Shivpuri, Datia and Sheopur. 

Earlier today, the Indian Air Force (IAF) rescued 7 people stranded on the roof of a temple in Datia. 

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the rain situation, who assured of all help to the state.
