Amrit Bharat Scheme: PM Modi To Lay Foundation Stone For Revamp Of 28 Railway Stations On Feb 26

Bandel in West Bengal will receive the largest allocation of funds, with substantial redevelopment work aimed at transforming it into a world-class station.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone of the redevelopment of 28 stations across West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar under the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' on February 26, a senior official from the Eastern Railway said. Milind K Deouskar, the General Manager of Eastern Railway, said on Saturday that the redevelopment project for these 28 stations is expected to incur an estimated cost of Rs 704 crore. 

PM Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for 550 Amrit Bharat stations on February 26, aiming to boost the facilities at railway stations nationwide. Among these, the Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 28 stations situated within the Eastern Railway jurisdiction spanning West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar, as disclosed by Milind K Deouskar, reported PTI.

Bandel In WB Will Receive The Largest Allocation Of Funds: Deouskar

Among the 28 stations, Bandel in West Bengal will receive the largest allocation of funds, with substantial redevelopment work aimed at transforming it into a world-class station boasting modern facilities and amenities, at an estimated cost of Rs 307 crore, said Deouskar, as per PTI. He further added that of the 28 stations, 17 in West Bengal, seven in Jharkhand, and four in Bihar, as per PTI.

In addition to station upgrades, the Eastern Railway is actively undertaking measures to enhance safety for passengers and road users by replacing manned level crossings with underpasses. Stating that these are fully funded by the railways, he said that Easter Railway has recently completed construction of 11 underpasses and is going to construct 22 more underpasses at a cost of Rs 123.52 crore, reported PTI.

Among the underpasses initiated by the Eastern Railway, ten are located in West Bengal. During the upcoming event, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for four of these underpasses and will also dedicate to the nation six underpasses, construction of which have been completed, Deouskar said.
