Mann Ki Baat: From Locust Attack To Migrant Labourers, Here Are The Key Highlights Of PM Modi's Address To Nation

Prime Minister Modi said that no section of India’s population is unaffected by the coronavirus crisis, however, the section of poor and labourers remains worst-affected.

Mann Ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to nation in his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat touched a number of topics, apart from Coronavirus induced lockdown. From Amphan cyclone that ravaged eatern parts of the country, to the locust attack being faced by farmers, Prime Minister Modi addressed a number of issues in his radio talk. Key Highlights of Prime Minister Modi’s address: Locust Attack: Prime Minister Modi said that many parts of the country are under an attack by locusts. These attacks have reminded us how much damage this small insect can cause. Locust attack runs into several days and a huge area gets affected, he said. He also assured the affected farmers of all the assistance from the government.  Be it centre, state government, agriculture department or local administration, everybody is using modern resources to help farmers. By adopting new innovations, I am confident we will be able to deal with this crisis in the agriculture sector, he said. Cyclone Amphan: Talking about the damage caused by cyclone Amphan in West Bengal and Odisha, PM Modi said that the country stands with people of West Bengal and Odisha.  “Last week, I went to West Bengal and Odisha to take stock of situation after super cyclone Amphan hit the states. Cyclone destroyed many houses, trees and farmers suffered huge loss. The courage and will with which these people have faced cyclone is commendable.” In this hour of crisis, the country is standing with the people of West Bengal and Odisha, he said. Ayushman Bharat: Prime Minister Modi emphasized that Ayushman Bharat has saved money of poor.  A few days ago, number of Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries crossed over 1 crore. “If the poor had to pay for their treatments in hospital, if they weren't treated for free then they had to spend somewhat around Rs 14,000 cr,” PM said. Their pain, their agony, and their ordeal can't be expressed in words, PM said. India’s fatality rate is lower: PM said that when compared with other countries India’s situation seems better in terms of fatality rate. “Our population is many times more than other countries, challenges are different still Covid-19 didn't spread so rapidly as in other countries and fatality rate is also notably lowe, he said. Need to be vigilant: PM Modi said that since many of the economic activities have resumed it has become even more important for people to become more alert regarding their safety. ‘There should be no laxity in maintaining six feet distance (Do Gaj Doori), wearing masks and staying indoors as much as possible.
