Nandigram Battle Not Over? Mamata Challenges Suvendu's Victory In HC, Hearing Today

The Calcutta High Court will hear on Friday West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's petition challenging the assembly election results in Nandigram where BJP's Suvendu Adhikari was declared a winner.

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has moved the Calcutta High Court seeking cancellation of the election of Suvendu Adhikari, who was declared winner of the Nandigram assembly election defeating Mamata Banerjee by over 1600 votes.

A hearing is likely to take place at the High Court on Friday at 11 AM in a single bench headed by Justice Kausik Chanda.

Banerjee's lawyer Sanjay Bose has informed that they have sought an order of struck down in the election of Nandigram. The case was filed two-three days back.

The Nandigram battle had seen several twists and turns as the counting went on till midnight. Banerjee, who had been trailing for the initial 11 rounds, took a lead in the next four. However, eventually, BJP's contender and former TMC minister Suvendu Adhikari won over Banerjee in the final round by a thin margin of over 1600 votes.

Post the Bengal Assembly elections on May 2nd, Mamata Banerjee made claims of misappropriation in the counting process in Nandigram.
