Double Trouble For Mumbai As IMD Issues High Tide, Heavy Rain Alert

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph.

Mumbai is set to witness high tides and intense rainfall over the next 48 hours, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather alert for the coastal Konkan region, including the financial capital. According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. The skies are expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the period.

The alert also includes a high wave warning for the coastal stretch from Dongi Point to Belapur, covering areas such as Thane, Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban districts. Waves between 4.4 and 4.6 meters are forecasted from 5:30 PM on July 25 to 8:30 PM on July 27.

The monsoon activity has been classified as “normal” over Maharashtra, with very heavy rain recorded in isolated parts of North Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra, and heavy rainfall reported across Konkan-Goa and parts of Marathwada and Gujarat.

Visuals from Marine Drive on Friday showed choppy seas and rising tide levels, reflecting the changing weather conditions.
