'My Father Was Given Slow Poison': Son Umar On Mukhtar Ansari's Death

The body of Mukhtar Ansari was taken for a post-mortem examination at Banda Medical College Hospital.

After the gangster turned politician Mukhtar Ansari passed away from cardiac arrest at a hospital in Banda on Thursday, his son Umar Ansari alleged that his father was poisoned through his food and stated that the family intends to pursue legal action in response to the incident. Mukhtar Ansari was transferred to Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda from the district jail while in an unconscious state. According to the hospital's principal, Suneel Kaushal, Ansari passed away at the hospital due to cardiac arrest, as reported by the news agency PTI.

Speaking with reporters, Umar stated: "I was not told anything from the administration side. I came to know about it through the media... But now, the entire nation knows everything... Two days ago, I came to meet him, but I was not allowed... We said earlier also and even today, we will say the same about the allegation of giving slow poison. On March 19, he was poisoned in the dinner. We will move to the judiciary, we have full faith in it.

The body of Mukhtar Ansari was taken for a post-mortem examination at Banda Medical College Hospital. Three-member team will conduct a magisterial investigation of the death of Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari. A panel of 2 doctors will do the post-mortem which will be videographed.

“The post-mortem will be conducted tomorrow (March 29), after that, they will give us the body. We will then follow with the further process (cremation)... My father was given a slow poison.,” Umar Ansari added.

Afzal Ansari, the brother of Mukhtar Ansari and Member of Parliament from Ghazipur, had alleged on Tuesday that Mukhtar Ansari was being subjected to "slow poisoning" in jail, a claim refuted by the authorities.
