Monsoon Update: Heavy Rainfall In Delhi-NCR Leads To Waterlogging, Traffic Disrupted

It has been raining in Delhi-NCR since morning. The Indian Meteorological Department predicted good rains in Delhi and adjoining areas on Monday and Tuesday.

It is raining heavily in Delhi-NCR since Monday morning. The Indian Meteorological Department predicted good rains in Delhi and adjoining areas on Monday and Tuesday. The department has also issued a yellow alert for Monday and Tuesday. 

The Meteorological Department said that today the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above the average. On Sunday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the Air Quality Index was recorded at 94. People were waiting for heavy rains on Sunday. But it rained only in some parts of New Delhi, including Mandi House. Many areas of North East and outer Delhi remained cloudy without the rains. 

Meteorological Department had expressed the possibility of rain. 

According to Mahesh Palawat, Chief Meteorologist, Skymet Weather, the Monsoon Trough persisted in the West and South of Delhi. Due to the Monsoon Trough rainfall was received in Palwal and Rewari areas. The Meteorological Department on Saturday expressed the possibility of heavy rain on Sunday.  People suffering from the scorching heat were expecting heavy rain. Heavy rains led to waterlogging in many areas of Delhi, disrupting traffic and causing inconvenience to motorists. Long queues of vehicles were seen due to waterlogging on the road near Aurobindo Marg, Mandi House, and ITO near AIIMS. Let us tell you that the monsoon usually arrives in the national capital till June 27 but, this time it has been delayed by 16 days.
