All MPs To Undergo Covid 19 Testing Ahead Of Moonson Session Of Parliament: Lok Sabha Speaker

Monsoon Session of Parliament: As coronavirus cases increase rapidly several safety measures are being planned for the upcoming session. According to media reports, all MPs will have to undergo testing for Covid 19.

New Delhi: The monsoon session of the parliament will be held soon with several safety precautions in place in the Lok Sabha to combat and counter the threat of Covid 19.One of the measures being taken is that all will MPs will have to undergo coronavirus tests. In a meeting held on Friday, the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with officials of the Health Ministry, AIIMS, DRDO, and other agencies discussed different steps to ensure safety during the upcoming monsoon session. According to a report by IANS, health checkups are being put in place within the Parliament House. "All members shall be requested to undergo Covid-19 test," said Birla in the report.   • Thermal guns and thermal scanner cameras will be used to record body temperature at entry points in the Parliament House.
  • Parliament will also be properly sanitised before the session
  • The facility of touchless sanitisers at 40 different places within the Parliament House
  • Emergency medical teams and ambulances will be deployed
  • Social distancing and other guidelines will be followed within the Lok Sabha Chamber
  • Members will be allowed to address the Chair while being seated to minimise the risk of infection
  • No visitors will be allowed during the session.
"This decision has been taken to minimise the risk of infection in light of the pandemic. Necessary arrangements will be made in galleries for members to ensure social distancing. For this purpose, the detailed guidelines are being prepared. The staff may be reduced, if required. The facilities for testing of officials of Ministries and personal staff of Members will also be in place," said Birla regarding the precautions in the report. India has now crossed the 34 lakh-mark in total coronavirus cases and recorded a with a spike of 76,472 new cases and 1,021 deaths in the last 24 hours. This is the fourth straight day that the country reported more than 1,000 Covid-19 fatalities. The total count in the country stands at 34,63,973, including 7,52,424 active cases, the health ministry said on Saturday.
