2 Men Trying To Cross Bridge On Bike As River Swelled In Udaipur Rescued With Hydraulic Crane: Watch

Both of them were later rescued by the members of the Civil Defence with the help of a hydraulic crane. Their motorcycle was also retrieved later.

Amid the incessant rainfall in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, two youths were stuck on a bridge in the city’s Morwaniya village while trying to cross it on their motorcycle, despite the swelling and overflow in the nearby river following the heavy downpour, as reported by the news agency ANI. Both of them were later rescued by the members of the Civil Defence with the help of a hydraulic crane. Their motorcycle was also retrieved later.

“After 25 minutes of effort, with the help of a hydraulic crane, we rescued both youths safely. Their motorcycle was also retrieved. We are being told that both of them are locals, they had gone there to shoot a video...They were lucky that there was a railing there which they could hold on to and we reached there to save them," Civil Defence member Kailash said, as quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile, traffic was suspended after debris continued to fall at many places on the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway, as continuous rains wreaked havoc in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, officials said on Wednesday. According to the Uttarkashi District Administration, the Gangotri-Yamunotri National Highway was closed to traffic as boulders continue to fall at many places following persistent downpours in the region, as reported by ANI.

Traffic and pilgrimage was stopped on Monday as boulders continued to fall at many places on the Yamunotri Highway as torrential rains continued in Uttarkashi district, officials said, ANI reported. District disaster management official of Uttarkashi, Devendra Patwal, said that due to the boulders falling continuously for the last three days, the traffic on both sides of the road has come to a complete standstill.
