'Maut Ka Saudagar', 'Chaiwala': New BJP Video Targets Congress Over Attacks On PM Modi

In a four-minute-long video depicting PM Narendra Modi's journey from 2007, the BJP is seen attacking the Congress for its criticism and remarks against PM Modi in the past

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday launched an attack on the opposition leaders for criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The saffron party shared the video on Twitter with a caption in Hindi, "Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai (I have to keep walking)". The four-minute-long video depicts PM Modi’s journey from 2007 till the present. In the video, the BJP showed all the major achievements of PM Modi-led Union government as well the Opposition’s attempts to target PM Modi by calling him “maut ka saudagar” and “Chaiwala”.

The video starts with, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat sighting Prime Minister’s post in the 2014 general elections. As he starts walking on the stairs toward the PM’s chair in the video, he is shown as being targeted by former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, with a board reading ‘Maut Ka Saudagar’. PM Modi can be seen ignoring the attacks and continuing his walk. The opposition leaders are shown mocking him for the US visa ban and also call him ‘chaiwala’.

When he becomes the Prime Minister in 2014, he is invited to the US by an animated character depicting former US president Barack Obama.

Highlighting the first tenure of PM Modi, the video shows various schemes launched by him including ‘Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna’, ‘Ujjwala Yojana’, ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’, ‘Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna’, ‘PM Awas Yojna’ and ‘Fasal Bima Yojna’.

During the 2019 general election campaign, Congress leaders are shown attacking PM Modi with Rafale allegations. During his second stint as the Prime Minister, he chooses the ‘Indian vaccine’ to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic over US-made vaccines like Pfizer and Moderna. At the end of the clip PM Modi can be seen walking towards a ‘5 trillion dollars economy’ target, unaffected by allegations, accusations, attacks, and quotes such as ‘Gautam das’, ‘Modi teri kabar kudegi’, and ‘neech’ among various others.

The video comes as senior BJP MPs are targeting the Congress amid the second phase of the Budget session over Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in the UK on Indian democracy. In the first phase of the session, the Congress-led opposition was seen targeting the Modi government over the Adani row and investments by public sector financial insitutions.

Meanwhile, the Congress party's reaction to the video is awaited.
