Manohar Lal Khattar Stakes Claim To Form New Govt In Haryana, To Take Oath As CM On Sunday
Manohar Lal Khattar will be the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second consecutive term after he was unanimously elected as leader of the BJP Legislature Party, announces Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
New Delhi: Manohar Lal Khattar will be the Chief Minister of Haryana for the second consecutive term after he was unanimously elected as leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislature Party, announces Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Khattar's name was proposed by legislator Anil Vij and seconded by the rest of the 38 lesgilators. He will stake claim to form a government soon and will be the chief minister of Haryana for a second term. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at 2 pm on Sunday.
"We will go to meet the Governor and request him to invite us to form the government, " says Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The BJP is set to for the government in an alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP)
Khattar arrived here from New Delhi on Saturday morning to attend the BJP Legislature Party meeting, which is being attended by Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and BJP General Secretary Arun Singh. After the meeting, Khattar will meet Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya and stake claim to form the government.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya to stake claim to form the next government in the state, Khattar said, "We have stake claim to form government in Haryana. Governor has accepted our proposal and invited us. I have tendered my resignation which has been accepted. Tomorrow at 2:15 PM oath taking ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan. Dushyant Chautala will take oath as Deputy CM."

Apart from Ravi Shankar Prasad and Khattar, JJP Leader Dushyant Chautala also visited Governor's house to submit his party's letter of support to the BJP.
Despite the election result going down to the wire in Haryana, the BJP has managed to put together an alliance government in the northern state within 48 hours with support from JJP.
