Man climbs tower in Delhi to demand special status for Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: A man staged a demonstration in Delhi demanding special status for the state of Andhra Pradesh in a one of its kind move. The man climbed atop a tower near the Metro Bhawan with a banner that read 'AP need special status'. As per PTI reports, the man had been sitting there for one-and-a-half hours before he was finally brought down. ANi shared the image of the man on their Twitter handle where he could be seen holding a placard reading: #Save Andhra Pradesh Deputy Commissioner of police (New Delhi) said that efforts were made to bring him down and a fire tender had to be called on the spot. Andhra Pradesh special status row: The demand of granting special status to Andhra Pradesh is being raised by the Telugu Desam Party. Earlier this year, it walked out of NDA saying the Centre has failed to respect the sentiments of the people of Andhra Pradesh by not granting the Special Category Status. TDP, last week moved a no-confidence motion with a united opposition against the government in the Lok Sabha over the issue, although the move was easily defeated by the ruling party.
