Mamata Banerjee A Respected CM, Will Work With Her With Objectivity: Bengal Governor-Designate Ananda Bose

Dr. Bose said that he has an open mind and that he would work with CM Mamata Banerjee with complete objectivity

In his first remarks after being named the next governor of West Bengal, Dr CV Ananda Bose said Mamata Banerjee was a respected Chief Minister and he would work with her with an open mind and with objectivity, ANI reported.

“I see Mamata Banerjee as a respected & elected Chief Minister. I have an open mind & will work with her with objectivity. If Governor & CM keep themselves well within the confines of the Constitution, there'll be no difficulty,” Dr. CV Ananda Bose was quoted by ANI as saying. 

On his appointment in the state of West Bengal, Bose said that it is a great state, and that the opportunity is a great one to be of some service to the people of Bengal. He said, “It's a great state. It'll be a great opportunity to be of some service to the people of Bengal. I don't see governorship as a great position but see it as an opportunity to commit myself to the welfare of the people.”

On the current political scenario in West Bengal, he said, “Political situations are always fluid. It's not an uphill task to function within the political system now prevailing in West Bengal. We've to take appropriate action at the appropriate time & implement it in an effective manner.” 

The announcement of Dr. Bose’s appointment was made on Thursday by Rashtrapati Bhavan.  

"The President of India is pleased to appoint Dr CV Ananda Bose as regular Governor of West Bengal. The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," Press Secretary to the President Ajay Kumar Singh said in a statement. 

A former bureaucrat, Bose has worked as University Vice Chancellor, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Chairman of central public sector undertaking Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and District Collector. He is the Chairman of the Habitat Alliance, in consultative status with the UN.
