Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis Cross Path During Visit To Flood-Hit Kolhapur

Thackeray had earlier last week visited the flood-affected Chiplun and Mahad where he met the officials to assess the extent of damage and ongoing relief operation.

Kolhapur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday visited the flood-hit areas in the Kolhapur district. Both leaders are visiting the flood-affected areas separately but touring the same flood-hit district.

Thackeray had earlier last week visited the flood-affected Chiplun and Mahad where he met the officials and local representatives to assess the extent of damage and ongoing relief operation.

The Chief Minister, however, had to call off his visit to the Sangli district due to inclement weather.

Fadnavis, who arrived at Kolhapur late on Thursday night, is on a three-day visit to western Maharashtra to assess and interact with flood-affected persons. The former chief minister had earlier toured Sangli and Satara districts.

The relief work in monsoon-affected areas is going on in full swing as over 100 people have died in Maharashtra alone due to rain-related incidents.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has continued its rescue operations due to floods and incessant downpours. Over 16 teams of the NDRF have been deployed at Thane, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Satara, and Sindhugarh.
