A video has surfaced on social media showing rats roaming in what appears to be a ward of a government hospital in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. This has led authorities to order enhanced pest control measures at the facility.
As per the PTI report, on Tuesday, the opposition party Congress in Madhya Pradesh shared the video on its social media handle X, stating there were "more rats than patients" at Gwalior's Kamla Raja Hospital, and criticised the government for poor conditions of the state.
"Look at the condition of Madhya Pradesh's health system. There are more rats roaming than patients in Gwalior's Kamla Raja Hospital, strict vigil has to be maintained to protect patients and newborns from rats. Madhya Pradesh is at the mercy of God. Parchiwale chief minister is registering attendance in durbar," Congress wrote on X.

Response Of Medical College's Dean
RKS Dhakad, the dean of the medical college, informed on Tuesday that he had seen the video and had instructed the hospital superintendent to take the necessary action to address the rat problem. He highlighted that although pest control is practiced in the wards, the hospital administration has been urged to improve its efficacy to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Such occurrences are unacceptable in a hospital where patients are present, Dhakad added.
