On Tuesday, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, former minister V Muralidharan and other BJP district leaders met Madhu and greeted him over the decision to join the saffron-party. It appears that Congress leadership also tried to bring Madhu to the party fold but did not succeed in its attempt.
CPI(M) Thiruvananthapuram district secretary V. Joy announced the decision to expel Mullassery, citing his proximity to the BJP and alleged discussions with the saffron party, even during his tenure as the area secretary. "He (Mullassery) was in consensus with them (BJP) on some matters," Joy claimed, as per a report on PTI.
Meanwhile, Mullassery, a former CPI(M) area secretary in Mangalapuram and a member of the party for 42 years, has held Joy responsible for his ouster."I have decided to leave a party for which I have worked for 42 years as it is difficult to work alongside the district secretary Joy," he said.
He alleged that Joy mistreated him and told TV channels that he received calls from both BJP and Congress to join their respective party.
Meanwhile, former BJP leader Sandeep Varier joined Congress in Thiruvananthapuram.
