Macchil braveheart sepoy Mandeep Singh's kin seek PM Modi's help over promised compensation
New Delhi: The family of Sepoy Mandeep Singh, whose body was mutilated by terrorists after being killed last year during ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir, has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention into the delay of the promised compensation.
"Government should keep his promise. A job should be given to Mandeep's brother and a promotion must be given to Mandeep's wife who serves as a head constable with Haryana Police. His mother should get a petrol pump or a gas station," said Mandeep's brother-in-law Sachin.
Mandeep's brother Sandeep told ANI that his family only wanted the government to fulfil its promises.
Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had already announced a financial assistance of Rs. 50 lakh to Mandeep?s kin.
Mandeep of 17 Light Infantry was killed by terrorists on October 28th last year, aided by the Pakistan Army, in Macchil sector of Kupwara district. They left his body in a mutilated state.
The Indian Army promised retribution after the terrorists mutilated the jawan's body, apparently beheading him, before fleeing back into Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir under the cover of firing provided by the Pakistan Army.
