'Strongly Raised My Concerns, Received Assurances': Chirag Paswan On Meeting With Shah, Nadda
Chirag Paswan did not disclose the specifics of his conversation with Shah and Nadda regarding political developments in Bihar, he said that his concerns were strongly raised, and assurances were provided in response.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan on Saturday expressed strong concerns during a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president J P Nadda. The meeting, which revolved around the possibility of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar rejoining forces with his former ally, resulted in Paswan receiving assurances from the top BJP leadership.
Following the meeting, Paswan, the son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, informed reporters that he would wait to see whether the Janata Dal (United) president joins the BJP-led alliance before finalising his party's stance on the matter. Although Paswan did not disclose the specifics of his conversation with Shah and Nadda regarding political developments in Bihar, he emphasised that he raised his concerns were strongly, and assurances were provided in response.

Fissures within the I.N.D.I.A. bloc partners, particularly between Kumar and others, have become apparent, with hints from some BJP leaders and allies suggesting a potential switch by the Bihar chief minister. Acknowledged the growing concerns amid these reports Paswan said, "We have had our concerns which grew amid these reports but without any authorised information on the developments in Bihar. I strongly raised my concerns in the meeting and received assurances on many issues." His party will finalise its stand when the situation becomes clear in the coming days, he said, reported PTI.
While acknowledging recent communication with BJP leaders, Paswan hinted at the truth behind the political realignment of murmurs in Bihar. The BJP, recognising the political antagonism of some of its current Bihar allies, including Paswan and Upendra Kushwaha, toward Nitish Kumar, has reached out to them in recent days.
Notably, Paswan played a significant role in the JD(U)'s poor performance in the 2020 assembly polls, contributing to the souring of relations with the BJP before the Bihar Chief Minister parted ways and aligned with the RJD in 2022. Concerns among the BJP's allies persist, as they fear Kumar's potential return to the NDA could impact their share of seats in upcoming polls.
