Weather Update: Cold Wave To Sweep North India In Next Two Days, Rainfall Expected This Week
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicted rain over Delhi-NCR from Friday night due to the influence of a Western Disturbance lying over North India.
New Delhi: There are colder days ahead as north India woke up to dense fog on Tuesday with low visibility in several regions amid prediction of rain over the national capital and neighouring regions this week.
In an early-morning tweet, the India Meteorological Department said, “Dense Fog at isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh (Bareilly, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Varanasi and Allahabad 50 m each; Agra, Lucknow and Gorakhpur 200 m each) and Bihar (Gaya 50 m and Purnea 200 m) and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal (Bagdogra 100 m).”

Rain Conditions Likely In Punjab, Haryana & Neighbouring Regions
"Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan during 21st to 23rd January with maximum intensity on 22nd January,” said the IMD in its weather forecast.
Isolated hailstorm activity is also likely over East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh on 21st night & 22nd January, it added.
Cold Wave To Continue Next Two Days
"Cold wave conditions over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan during the next two days", said IMD.
Fresh active Western Disturbance will affect Northwest India from January 21, predicted IMD.

As a result of the Western Disturbance, the sky will remain overcast increasing the minimum temperature to 13 degrees Celsius. "Day temperature to remain low due to rain throughout North India, Rajasthan, Haryana", Jenamani told news agency ANI.
Cold day to severe cold day conditions have been predicted over Northwest & Central India during the next 24 hours and gradually abate thereafter. The weather would improve from January 19 onwards due to the influence of western Disturbance, informed IMD scientist Jenamani.
Minimum temperatures are likely to rise by 2-4° C over Northwest India during the next five days, said the met department.
A private forecasting portal Kashmir Weather has predicted light rain/snow can occur at many places in the Kashmir division and at a few places in the Jammu division between Monday and Tuesday morning.
