Land For Jobs Case: Lalu Prasad Arrives At ED Office Amid Large Crowd Of RJD Workers

A significant number of RJD workers also gathered outside the central agency's headquarters, demonstrating against the centre.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav came at the Enforcement Directorate's Patna office on Monday for interrogation in the land-for-jobs scam case, news agency ANI reported. A significant number of RJD workers also gathered outside the central agency's headquarters, demonstrating against the centre.

Speaking with media, RJD MP and daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav Dr Misa Bharti said: "This is not a new thing. This greeting card is being sent to those who are not coming with them. Whenever any agency calls our family, we go there and cooperate with them and answer their questions."

On RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav appearing before the ED, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "He has to be answerable for what he has done. He does not have answers to the questions that ED will possibly ask. He took land in return for jobs, from people of his own community and state. He will have to give answers, which he does not have."

A team of ED officers from Delhi arrived in Patna late Sunday evening to examine the RJD leader about the matter.

On January 19, the central investigation agency issued a new summons to Lalu Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav, and the ED physically delivered the notice to Lalu Yadav's wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi's house in Patna. The summons directed both RJD leaders to appear before it on January 29 and 30.

The land-for-jobs case against Lalu Yadav alleges that during his tenure as Union Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, he and his family members received financial benefits by transferring landed property into their names in exchange for appointing'substitutes' to Group D posts in various railway zones.
