4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Ladakh, Second One In A Week

The centre of the quake was 119 kilometers Northwest from Kargil, Ladakh.

Ladakh earthquake: An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted the Union territory of Ladakh on Thursday afternoon. The tie at which the tremors were felt was around 1:10 pm. The centre of the quake was 119 kilometers Northwest from Kargil, Ladakh. This is the second time in about a week’s time when Ladakh has been hit by an earthquake. Last week also, a medium intensity quake of nearly same maginitude had hit Ladakh. According to the NCS, the quake occurred at 8.15 pm at a depth of 25 kilometres. It must be noted that the Himalayan region falls in the severe earthquake intensity zone of India A minor earthquake also hit Jammu and Kashmir on June 30.  The magnitude of the quake was 4.0.
