The arrest and release of Pushpa 2 star has brought renewed focus on the illustrious Konidela-Allu family, one of the most prominent dynasties in Indian cinema.
Popularly known as "Mega Family" due to the presence of "Mega Star" Chiranjeevi, the family's presence extends beyond cinema and centers itself in politics as well.
Roots of Konidela-Allu Family
The story of the Konidela-Allu family begins in the villages of Mogalthuru and Palakollu in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district. It was here that two influential families—Allu Ramalingaiah’s and Konidela Venkat Rao’s—laid the foundation for a dynasty that would later dominate Telugu cinema and politics.

Allu Ramalingaiah
The Allu family's legacy in cinema began with Allu Ramalingaiah, a celebrated actor, comedian and producer in Telugu cinema, who appeared in over 1,000 films across various roles. His film journey started with Puttillu in 1950.
A stalwart of Telugu cinema, Allu Ramalingaiah had four children: Allu Aravind, Surekha Konidala, Nava Bharathi, and Vasantha Lakshmi.
Allu Aravind
Allu Ramalingaiah’s son, Allu Aravind was the one who carried forward his father’s legacy. A visionary producer and entrepreneur, Aravind established Geetha Arts, one of the most successful production houses in Telugu cinema. He also co-founded Aha, a popular streaming platform, and became a co-owner of the Kerala Blasters FC football team.
Aravind’s three sons—Allu Venkatesh, Allu Arjun, and Allu Sirish—each carved their own paths in the industry.
Allu Venkatesh
After a 15-year career in the IT industry, Allu Venkatesh, ventured into film production, making his debut with the movie Ghani.
Allu Arjun
Among the sons of Allu Aravind it was Allu Arjun who soared to unprecedented heights. Allu Arjun with his charismatic presence, dancing skills and acting became one of the most celebrated and highly paid stars in Indian cinema. Known as the “Stylish Star” and “Icon Star,” he has consistently delivered blockbuster hits, including the Pushpa franchise, and earned accolades like the National Film Award and multiple Filmfare Awards.
Since 2014, Allu Arjun has consistently appeared in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list.
Allu Sirish
Allu Sirish, the son of producer Allu Aravind and brother of Allu Arjun, is an actor primarily active in Telugu cinema. He made his acting debut with Gouravam (2013) and later featured in films such as Kotha Janta, Srirastu Subhamastu, and Okka Kshanam.

Chiranjeevi
Born as Konidela Sivasankara Varaprasad Rao, Chiranjeevi is a legendary actor and politician with a career spanning over four decades and 150 films.
Chiranjeevi has two brothers, actor-producer Nagendra Babu, actor-politician and current Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh Pawan Kalyan.
When Konidela Meets Allu
Chiranjeevi married Surekha, Allu Ramalingaiah’s daughter, on February 20, 1980, linking the Konidela and Allu families.
The family’s influence expanded further when Surekha entered the family of Mega Star Chiranjeevi who was then a rising star in Telugu cinema.
The union made Allu Aravind the brother-in-law of Chiranjeevi. The Megastar is also the uncle of actors Allu Arjun, Allu Sirish, Varun Tej, Niharika Konidela, Sai Dharam Tej, and Panja Vaisshnav Tej.
Chiranjeevi and Surekha have three children Ram Charan, star of RRR who has emerged as Indian cinema’s leading actors, and his sisters Sushmita and Sreeja.
Further, Chiranjeevi and Surekha’s children have also continued the family’s cinematic legacy.
