New Delhi: The wedding of former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy courted a huge controversy as the event was conducted amid the lockdown imposed in the wake of the coronavirus. The gathering saw friends and relatives of the bride and the groom flouting social distancing norms. The event was organized at a farmhouse, where scores of people joined to get a glimpse of the wedding of former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda's grandson, ignoring appeals not to visit the venue in view of the ongoing lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Nikhil, son of former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, tied the nuptial knot with Revathi, the grand-niece of former Karnataka housing minister M Krishnappa.
The marriage was solemnised at Kumaraswamy's Kethaganahalli farmhouse at Bidadi in the neighbouring Ramanagara district, a JD(S) stronghold.

"The information we have is that at least 150 to 200 vehicles were given permission to attend the event. This happened when the social workers who want to serve the badly affected poor people are not getting permission to run their vehicles," Ramanagar BJP district president M Rudresh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
"Till now Ramanagara is safe from coronavirus and is in the green zone. If at all the disease spreads in Ramanagara, the entire blame will be on Deve Gowda's family," Rudresh alleged.
However, as per news agency IANS, Kumaraswamy's spokesman K.C. Sadananda, said that the guidelines were not violated, as the ceremony was held within the house and only family members and close relatives were present on the occasion.
"As the main ceremony -- tying the nuptial knots -- was held in the marriage pandal, only family members were present, while relatives were seated in the farmhouse at a distance," the spokesman said.
