Jyotiraditya Scindia, Varun Gandhi & More, Know BJP Leaders Likely To Be Inducted In Modi Cabinet
There has been no expansion or adjustment in the cabinet since Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for his second term from May 30, 2019.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held two meetings within a time of four days with the Bhartiya Janata Party’s top brass and two separate groups of Ministers, giving a clear signal of the commencement of Modi government much awaited and expected reshuffle.
Being the first reshuffle of the government’s second tenure, the topic has become a subject of widespread talks and discussions.

After the death of Lok Janshakti Party founder Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP's Suresh Angadi, their respective posts of Cabinet Minister and Minister of State remain vacant. Two ministerial posts vacated by representatives of Shiromani Akali Dal and Shiv Sena after they exited the National Democratic Alliance also need to be filled.
There has been no expansion or adjustment in the cabinet since Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for his second term from May 30, 2019. This is sought as one of the reasons many ministers are seen burdened with more than one or several responsibilities. For example, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal supervises the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Food and Consumer Affairs, while Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also oversees Rural Development.
The Prime Minister has been meeting the ministers and reviewing their work. According to sources, based on the review of work, underperforming ministers will be dropped from the Modi Cabinet.
To state a few, names that are doing rounds for new possible inductees are:
- Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Union minister and four-time Lok Sabha who left the Congress in March 2020.
- Dinesh Trivedi, former Trinamool Congress leader and Union minister who joined the BJP in March
- Bhupender Yadav, a Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Rajasthan.
- Varun Gandhi, Maneka Gandhi's son and Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Pilibhit.
Notably, the Modi government is yet to confirm any details regarding the rumoured cabinet reshuffle or expansion.
