Justice Dipak Misra to be next CJI

The incumbent Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar will demit office on August 27.

New Delhi: Justice Dipak Misra will take over as the next Chief Justice of India. The incumbent Chief Justice of India J.S. Khehar will demit office on August 27. According to reports, last month CJI Khehar had nominated him for the top judicial post. Misra was born on 03rd October 1953. Justice Misra has practised in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Revenue, Service and Sales Tax matters in the Orissa High Court and the Service Tribunal. He has also worked as an Additional Judge of the Orissa High Court. He has also been a judge in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 03rd March 1997. He became permanent Judge on December 19, 1997. Justice Misra became Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on 24th May 2010 and got promoted as Judge in the Supreme Court of India on 10.10.2011.
