JNU student Umar Khalid makes a controversial remark, calls terrorist Wani a revolutionary
New Delhi: JNU student Umar Khalid has now come up with a very controversial remark. Khalid on Saturday called Burhan Wani, the militant commander who was gunned down on Friday night; a revolutionary.
Khalid in his Facebook post said, “I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting. These were the words of Che Guevara, but could have just been Burhan Wani's too”
He added by praising Wani for his bravery and said, “Burhan wasn't scared of death, he was scared of a life lived in subjugation. He detested it. He lived a free man, died a free man. Doomed is the occupation! Indian state, how will you defeat a people who have defeated their own fears?”
The statement by Khalid has raised several eye brows. Even earlier Khalid was in news in connection with the February 9 event where allegedly “anti-national” slogans were allegedly raised in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus.
The University on April 25, 2016 rusticated Umar Khalid along with 3 more students. Khalid was rusticated for one semester and was also a fine of Rs 20,000 was levied on him.
Kashmir on Saturday was rocked by widespread mob violence and clashes which left 9 people dead and 126, including 96 security forces personnel, injured even as authorities imposed curfew-like curbs and suspended mobile internet services to contain the fallout of gunning down of militant commander Burhan Wani.
