Jammu & Kashmir Constables, Teacher Dismissed For Weapons, Drugs Smuggling

Six Jammu & Kashmir government employees were dismissed for engaging in anti-national activities such as drug peddling, weapon smuggling, and supporting terrorist organisations.

The Jammu & Kashmir administration has dismissed six employees, including five police constables and one teacher, for their involvement in anti-national activities. The employees were allegedly involved in terror-related activities, drug peddling, and smuggling of weapons and narcotics.

The dismissed employees include Saif Din, a selection grade constable, who is allegedly a notorious drug peddler and an overground worker (OGW) for the proscribed terrorist organisation Hizbul Mujahideen. He has been instrumental for the organisation in generating narco terror funding.

Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, a head constable, and two constables, Khalid Hussain Shah and Rahmat Shah, were found to be involved in the smuggling of huge consignments of narcotics from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir across the Line of Control (LoC). Farooq Ahmad Sheikh was connected to terrorists in Pakistan who would send weapons and narcotics across the LoC.

Rahmat Shah a resident of Haridal village in Karnah, Kupwara, knew the local terrain and topography well. He used this to establish contacts with narcotics smugglers across the border in PoJK. Khalid Hussain Shah from Tangdar Karnah in Kupwara was at the forefront of running a drug cartel in the Kupwara-Karnah region. The trio would receive the drugs and then prepare channels for distribution across the country.

The money from the drugs would be used to fuel unrest as well as finance terrorism activities in the Kashmir Valley and other parts of India.  

Selection grade constable Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo is accused of working as an OGW with the proscribed terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was in close contact with various Kashmiri terrorists based in PoJK. Would receive arms and ammunition for further delivery to terrorists. He used to assist terrorist groups during infiltration by providing logistics and transportation of their illegal arms and ammunition in the interior areas of the Kashmir Valley.

The teacher, Nazam Din, has been accused of assisting Hizbul Mujahideen in smuggling drugs.

The administration has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national elements who have been taking advantage of being in government service. The employees were dismissed in terms of Article 311 of the Constitution of India, which allows for the dismissal of employees involved in anti-national activities.
