J&K: 5 Dead, 12 Injured As Bus Carrying Passengers Falls Into Gorge In Rajouri District

Jammu & Kashmir News: Four people died after a bus carrying several passengers fell into a deep gorge near Bhimber Gali in Rajouri district

New Delhi: A bus carrying several passengers fell into a deep gorge near Bhimber Gali in Rajouri district on Thursday morning.

According to news agency PTI, officials informed that the death toll increased to five while 12 persons were injured in the accident.

The bus was on its way to Jammu from Surankote Poonch. It skidded off the road and plunged into the gorge at Deri Ralyot in the Manjakote area, they said.

Security forces and local residents have launched a rescue operation.

J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha grieved the loss of lives and said that the district administration is providing all possible assistance.

"Anguished by the loss of lives due to a tragic accident in Rajouri. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. The district administration is providing all possible assistance," the Office of J&K LG stated.

The accident comes a day after 11 people were killed and 28 others injured in another accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. More details about the incident are awaited.
