J&K Govt Orders Creation Of 20 Posts In Police Unit To Crack Down On Terrorism

The J&K Government has ordered the creation of 20 posts in the police unit to crack down on terrorism.

To purge terrorism in the Union territory, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has issued an order to create 20 posts in different categories for the establishment of a terror-monitoring group in the Jammu and Kashmir Police. 

Director General of J&K Police Dilbag Singh has extended his gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his administration for the creation and establishment of the terror monitoring group. 

The DGP said the establishment of a specific terror monitoring group will play important role in cracking down on the terror ecosystem. An order by the JK Home department has also been issued for the same.

The order said, "Sanction is hereby accorded to the creation of following 20 (Twenty) posts in different categories which will include one SSP, six DySsP, six Inspectors six Head Constables and one Follower for establishment of Terror Monitoring Group (TMG) in J&K Police."

Recently, Kashmir Police along with the officials of Romeo Force of the Indian Army busted a hideout in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. They recovered a cache of arms and ammunition. The Police informed, "Romeo Force of Indian Army and police in a joint operation busted a hideout in Surankot Sector near Sindara village in Poonch district and recovered 3 AK 47 rifles, 28 rounds, magazines, and Under Barrell Grenade Launcher (UBGL)."

Earlier on December 24, the Indian Army during a joint search operation recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in the Baramulla district. A security official in a statement said: "Baramulla police along with three personnel of the Army recovered 8 AKS 74u with 24 mags and 560 rds, 12 pistols (Tokarev type) with 24 mags and 244 rds, 14 grenades, 81 balloons with Pak flag imprint, wheat bags and synthetic gunny bags with made in Pakistan print 5 No's among other incriminating materials recovered from the general area of the Hathlanga sector of Uri," reported news agency ANI.

However, Chief of the Army Staff Major General Manoj Pande has said that there has been a decline in violence in the union territory and noted that several proxy terrorist outfits have resorted to the technique of targetted killings to gain visibility. General Pande said the Army, along with other security forces, is determined to foil all such attempts.
