Amit Shah To Visit Jammu's Rajouri On Friday To Meet Kin Of Terror Attack Victims, Review Security Situation: Report
Sources said that Shah will go to the spot where the terrorist attack happened to meet the families of the civilians who died there.
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to discuss the situation on the ground with the security forces, said sources, reported news agency ANI. The visit of the Home Minister comes after two terror attacks in Rajouri that killed seven people.
Sources said that Shah will go to the spot where the terrorist attack happened to meet the families of the civilians who died there.
The January 1 terrorist attack resulted in 14 injuries and seven deaths.
According to officials, the administration strengthened Village Defence Guards (VDGs) made up of local volunteers and the border grid in response to the attack to closely monitor potential routes of infiltration.
They stated that police posters with a Rs 10 lakh reward for credible information about the terrorists have also appeared throughout the district.
According to the officials, a joint cordon and search operation is being carried out by the Army, the police, and the CRPF in over two dozen villages where there were reports of a terrorist presence prior to the attack. Special operational teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who were relocated from outside of Rajouri, have also been deployed at designated locations, reported PTI.
Shah will also meet with members of the security forces and administration of Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, on January 1 and 2, two terror attacks in Upper Dangri village in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir left six civilians dead, including two children, and injured many more.
A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Rajouri's Upper Dhangri village on January 2 morning resulted in the deaths of two children and the injuries of several others, while four people were shot dead on January 1 evening.
The Home Minister will arrive in Jammu at 11:15 a.m., according to sources, and will take a helicopter to Rajouri at 11:30 a.m. He will arrive at Rajouri at twelve o'clock in the afternoon. From there, he will travel to Dhangri to check out the terror attacks' site and talk to the families of the victims.
At 1:30 p.m., Shah will return to Jammu. He will preside over the meeting of civil administration and security establishment officers at Raj Bhavan in Jammu at two in the afternoon. Prior to this, on January 9, the Home Minister met with high-ranking members of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Jammu and Kashmir unit at his residence in the national capital. Following the most recent terror attacks in the Kashmir valley, the meeting took place.
