While speaking to the agency, she said, "I have studied Sanskrit many years back. I can talk in Hindi. This initiative is a sign of our friendship," adding she launched a unique initiative depicting linguistic similarities between Sanskrit and Lithuanian.

India recently opened its Embassy in Lithuania. While speaking about it on Sunday, Mickeviciene said that relations between India and Lithuania are seeing historical moments.

Mickeviciene further stated that she envisioned strong relations between both countries along with collaboration in the high-tech sector. She also extended support to India’s G20 Presidency and said, “it's important to give voice to the Global South.”

The proposal to open a new Indian embassy in Lithuania was approved last year in April.

“Opening of the Indian mission in Lithuania will help expand India’s diplomatic footprint, deepen political relations and strategic cooperation, enable the growth of bilateral trade, investment and economic engagements and facilitate stronger people-to-people contacts,” an official statement said.

The Lithuanian Ambassador along with Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday also flagged off 'Gandhi Darshan, G-20 Yuva Slum Daud' at Amardev Public School in the national capital.

While addressing the public gathered at the event, Mickeviciene appealed to the youth to run and get inspired by the life of athlete Milkha Singh.

"Ten years ago I watched a movie, Bhag Milkha Bhag, today many Milkhas are among you. So keep running," she said.
