IndiGo Flight Makes 'Full Emergency' Landing In Mumbai After Bomb Scare. All Passengers Evacuated Safely

The IndiGo flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai after receiving a bomb threat.

An IndiGo flight from Chennai with 172 passengers onboard and crew made a landing in "full emergency" mode on Saturday morning following a bomb threat to the aircraft, reported PTI quoting sources as saying. The airline issued a statement saying that the crew followed was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All the passengers were safely disembarked from the aircraft, it added. 

“Full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E5314, operating on Chennai-Mumbai route on Saturday after the pilot informed the Mumbai ATC of an alleged bomb threat to the aircraft,” the report added quoting source as saying.

The air carrier confirmed the alleged bomb threat on its Chennai-Mumbai flight. Issuing a statement, the airlines said, "Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines.” All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft, which is currently undergoing inspection, it said.

“Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” it added.

This is the second such incident involving an IndiGo flight in the past week. On Tuesday, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi had received an alleged bomb threat. 

In another incident on May 31, a bomb threat was received by Vistara Airlines from Delhi to Srinagar with 177 passengers and an infant. Following the threat, swift action was taken by airline and security forces. Flight UK-611, which departed from Delhi, landed safely at Srinagar Airport at approximately 12:10 AM.
