'Momentous Feat,' Says PM Modi As India Administers 1 Crore COVID Vaccine Doses In Highest Single-Day Coverage
India on Friday administered over 1 crore vaccine doses under its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, PM Modi informed on Twitter.
New Delhi: India on Friday administered over 1 crore vaccine doses under its nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, the highest ever vaccination achieved so far in a single day.
"Record vaccination numbers today! Crossing 1 crore is a momentous feat. Kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success," PM Narendra Modi tweeted.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also lauded the feat as he tweeted: "1 crore vaccines in 1 day! This figure is a reflection of strong will & immense potential of new India. New India under PM Modi's leadership has shown the world how a country can set an example in successfully fighting COVID with a visionary & diligent leadership".

Earlier, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated the citizens as the number of jabs given crossed the 90 lakh mark while more doses continue to be administered.
“Congratulations to the citizens as India today administers historic 90 lakh COVID19 vaccines until now - and still counting!” he tweeted.
'Our work is far from over': President Ram Nath Kovind
Meanwhile, President Ram Nath Kovind said the battle against COVID-19 is far from over and urged all to keep contributing to raise awareness about vaccination.
“We must remain on guard against any laxity. Masks and social distance are our first line of defence. And the vaccine is the best possible protection offered by science. True to the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, our scientists have produced ‘Made-in-India’ vaccines,” said President Kovind while addressing the 26th convocation of the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.

“With the collective efforts of our doctors, healthcare workers and administrators, the nation has been conducting the world’s largest vaccination drive. We have made incredible progress with more than 61 crore citizens have been successfully vaccinated across the country,” he added.
Noting that nearly 6 crore 70 lakh people have been vaccinated so far in the country’s most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, President Kovind said: “We are making progress on vaccination but our work is far from over. We have a long way to go and we cannot rest till every eligible individual is vaccinated.”
The President said that the pandemic has underlined the importance of healthcare in the most unprecedented way.
“There is a challenge to fulfill the healthcare requirements of all citizens, including the less privileged and those living in interior areas. In this regard, the use of the latest technologies and especially telemedicine will go a long way,” he added.
