New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation yesterday and announced the fourth phase of the lockdown or Lockdown 4.0 and an economic stimulus of 20 lakh crore. Soon after the announcement, social media was abuzz with people trying to figure out the number of zeroes in the figure! Many people took to Twitter to share hilarious memes that focussed on how much will be received by each one in the country. Some of the memes also looked at the length of the speech and poked fun at the use of the phrase ‘atmanirbhar.’ For those looking for the answer, it is 13 zeroes. Soon after the lockdown was announced the finance minister had also announced an economic package of Rs 1.7 lakh crore. This stimulus was aimed at helping the poor especially women and the elderly cope with the hardships of the pandemic and the lockdown. Many measures such as free food grains, medical insurance cover of 50 lakh for health workers, wage increase under MNREGA was also announced. The package announced this time is targeted at MSMEs, agriculture, and the taxpayers. The detailed disbursement plan is being announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a press conference that started at 4 PM.
