Heavy Rainfall Leading To Massive Landslide Rocks Darjeeling

Members of the GNLF party have gone to the spot to reach out to the ones affected in the natural disaster and have given them all necessary commodities.

In Darjeeling's Lami, family members of two dwellings with nearly 60% damage barely managed to escape when a massive landslide knocked their house's down and ended up destroying it! Around 15 houses have been inversely affected in the area alone.

In the massive landslide that took place in the hills of Darjeeling on Friday morning, over 25 houses have been damaged and many lives were affected.

Moderate to heavy rainfall had been taking place in the hills since July 7th. As a result of soil softenening due to the torrential rains several places witnessed landslides in Darjeeling.

Members of the GNLF party have gone to the spot to reach out to the ones affected in the natural disaster and have given them all necessary commodities.

Local dministration has also been informed to send help as quickly as possible.

Such landslides take place often in the region. In another landslide that took place in May in the hills many people were affected. However, the number of casualties has not yet been reported.

Acoording to weather reports rain in the hills are scheduled to continue till mid September.
