Haryana: Three Dead, Several Injured After Landslide In Bhiwani's Mining Quarry

According to sources, as many as 20 vehicles are being reported to be trapped in the debris. The rescue operation is underway. 

New Delhi: A landslide in a Dadam mining zone in the Bhiwani region of Haryana killed three people on Saturday with many feared missing. The rescue operation is underway.

"A total of 5 persons were rescued, of which three were dead & one person is injured. We've asked for NDRF teams, so the rescue operation will continue tonight," Bhiwani DC Rippudaman Singh Dhillon told ANI.

"Landslide at a mining site in Bhiwani occurred at around 9:30am today. Adequate rescue measures were taken as soon as the administration received information. Around 10-12 vehicles & 15-20 persons were trapped in the landslide," DC Rippudaman Singh added.

Besides, half a dozen dumper trucks and some machines are buried in the debris due to the landslide that took place in Tosham block, the police said.  

The Haryana police said that several people are missing, reported news agency ANI. 

Meanwhile, Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal has reached the site. he said that some people have died and figures cannot be provided yet. 

"Some people have died. I cannot provide the exact figures as of now. A team of doctors has arrived. We will try to save as many people as possible," Dalal told ANI.

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar also expressed condolences on the unfortunate incident. "Saddened by the unfortunate landslide accident in Dadam mining zone at Bhiwani. I am in constant touch with the local administration to ensure swift rescue operations and immediate assistance to the injured," Khattar tweeted.
