Haryana Assembly Elections 2019: Rahul Calls BJP MLA 'Most Honest Man'

In the 39-second video, Virk is seen saying in Punjabi: "Wherever you vote, we will get to know which person has voted for whom. Don't think we won't know. We deliberately don't tell you, but if we want we can find out who you voted for."

New Delhi: Challenging government claims of the infallibility of electronic voting machines (EVM) amid polling for Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Monday shared a video in which a BJP MLA claimed that no matter which button is pressed on the EVMs, the vote would go to the saffron party. The video of BJP MLA Bakhshish Singh Virk from Assandh constituency in Haryana has been doing rounds on the social media for past few days and he has even been served a showcause notice by the Election Commission.

In the 39-second video, Virk is seen saying in Punjabi: "Wherever you vote, we will get to know which person has voted for whom. Don't think we won't know. We deliberately don't tell you, but if we want we can find out who you voted for." Virk has been termed the video "fake" calling it a conspiracy by his rivals to defame him and his party before the crucial Assembly polls. Sharing the video on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi called Virk "the most honest man in the BJP". This is not the first time that EVMs have been under question from the Opposition. Several Opposition parties, including the Congress, CPI, CPI-M, Trinamool Congress and the AAP have questioned the authenticity of the EVMs. The poll panel had last year called a hackathon by the Opposition to show that the EVMs used by it are "full proof and there is no chance of any rigging".
