Delhi Police Allows Hanuman Jayanti Procession In Jahangirpuri Within Certain Distance Amid Heavy Security
A Hanuman Jayanti procession will be witnessed today in the Jahangirpuri area amid heavy police deployment. Delhi Police said the approved route has been regulated.
Delhi police on Wednesday gave permission to take out the Shobha Yatra in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri area within a certain distance. The Hanuman Jayanti celebration last year was hit by communal violence and this year, it's being regulated in consultation with organisers, police said.
Delhi Police had denied permission to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group to carry out a procession. But the organisers later received permission and the police deployment in the area was enhanced.
Two processions were permitted to be carried out. First one by the Hindu Vahini from the H block and the second from the E block. The police asked the Hindu Vahini to take out a procession of 100 metres.
According to inputs, Hindu Vahini is performing Havan at H Block BK Square and its members said that they will not take the procession further.
The second procession will begin from E Block at 2 pm.
According to news agency PTI, the police said the organisers had applied for permission to take out a Hanuman Jayanti procession in the area, and the route has been regulated.

"Hanuman Jayanti celebration at Jahangirpuri is being regulated in consultation with the organisers. We are ensuring that it takes place in safe and secure manner," Special Commissioner of Police (law and order) Deependra Pathak said, as quoted by PTI.
The police took out a flag march in the Jahangirpuri area on Tuesday.
Eight police personnel and a local resident were injured in stone-pelting and arson after clashes broke out between two communities in Jahangirpuri during a Hanuman Jayanti procession on April 16 last year. Some vehicles were also set ablaze.
Following the recent clashes seen in various states on Ram Navami, the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday asked all states to ensure law and order during Hanuman Jayanti and monitor any factor that could disturb peace and harmony in society.
"The MHA has issued an advisory to all states in preparation for Hanuman Jayanti. The governments are encouraged to ensure the maintenance of law and order, peaceful observance of the festival, and monitoring of any factors that could disturb communal harmony in society," the Home Minister's Office tweeted.
