Gujarat Elections 2022: BJP's 'Chintan Shivir' Concludes Today, Strategy Discussed For Upcoming Polls

In December, elections are expected to be conducted in Gujarat, where the BJP has been in power for 27 years.

New Delhi: The Gujarat BJP's two-day 'chintan shivir,' or brainstorming session, finished on Monday evening at a club. "It was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, party national general secretary BL Santhosh, state unit chief CR Paatil along with some 30 key leaders with the aim of chalking out a strategy for the Assembly polls," Gujarat Education Minister Jitu Vaghani said, news agency ANI reported.

In December, elections are expected to be conducted in the state, where the BJP has been in power for 27 years.

Vaghani told reporters that the BJP will focus more on seats that it lost in the 2017 Assembly elections, without going into detail about what happened during the discussion.

"We will also work to make our strong seats even stronger to ensure victory with a huge margin, and set the tone for the 2024 general elections," Vaghani was quoted by ANI in its report.

He went on to say that the party's leadership had examined and analysed previous election results.

"We also discussed how various cells, such as women cell, OBC cell and Yuva Morcha, can play important roles in the polls. In coming days, the party will finalize the programmes of national leaders like Amit Shah and JP Nadda in Gujarat," he said.

Vaghani said the polls will be contested under the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Party Chief CR Paatil, and Home Minister Amit Shah since the BJP has a tradition of "collective leadership."

In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP kept power by capturing 99 seats, barely seven more than the required majority.
