Gujarat Assembly Speaker R Trivedi says PM Narendra Modi is 'Brahmin'; Here's why
As narrated by PM himself, he helped his father sell tea at the Vadnagar railway station. Later he ran a tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus.
New Delhi: At 'Mega Brahmin Business Summit' in Gandhinagar, Gujarat Assembly Speaker R Trivedi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a "Brahmin".
He also termed BR Ambedkar a "Brahmin."
"No hesitation in saying that BR Ambedkar is a Brahmin. There is nothing wrong in calling a learned person a Brahmin. In that context, I will say that PM Narendra Modi is also a Brahmin," Trivedi said on Sunday.
However, reportedly, PM Modi's family belonged to the Modh-Ghanchi-Teli (oil-presser) community. It is categorised as an Other Backward Class (OBC) by the government of India.
As narrated by PM himself, he helped his father sell tea at the Vadnagar railway station. Later he ran a tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus.
