New Delhi: Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir who has recently been inducted into the Bharatiya Janata Party, exchanged barbs with National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Twitter. The two got into a war of words over Abdullah’s statement on “separate PM for Jammu and Kashmir” made during a party address on Monday. While in a rhetoric tweet Gambhir compared Abdullah’s statement to impossibilities, he got a sharp retort from the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister. “Stick to stuff you know,” was Abdullah’s curt response to the former cricketer. The debate did not end here, as Gambhir replied to this with “Never mind your lack of cricketing prowess” and “clean your reading glasses.” Abdullah had said on Monday that the National Conference will bring back the nomenclature 'Wazir-e-Azam' (Prime Minister) and 'Sadr-e-Riyasat' (Governor) in the state. Gambhir had mocked Abdullah in a tweet and said “more than a separate PM , Omar Abdullah, needs some sleep followed by a strong coffee! If he still doesn’t understand then a green Pakistani passport” He tweeted this afternoon: "Omar Abdullah wants a separate PM for J&K and I want to walk on oceans! Omar Abdullah wants a separate PM for J&K and I want pigs to fly! More than a separate PM Omar Abdullah needs some sleep followed by a strong coffee! If he still doesn't understand then a green Pakistani passport." Abdullah was quick to respond and said: “Gautam, I never played much cricket because I knew I wasn't very good at it. You don't know very much about J&K, it's history or the role of JKNC in shaping that history, yet you insist on displaying that ignorance for all to see.” “Stick to stuff you know about, tweet about the IPL,” Abdullah said. Gambhir’s said in a comeback: “Never mind your lack of cricketing prowess but Kashmiris and our country would have been well served if you knew a thing or two about selfless governance. By the way history is always consistent but perspectives are subjective. Better clean ur reading glasses.” Addressing a party gathering in Bandipora district, Abdullah had said on Monday: "Jammu and Kashmir is not like other states of India. We didn't come without any condition. We made conditions and ensured that our separate identity is preserved.” "We got guarantees incorporated into the Constitution. We ensured that we have a flag and a Constitution of our own. Does any other state of India have its own flag and Constitution? We extended our hand of friendship on certain conditions which were agreed to,” he said. "We have got it included in the Constitution that we have our own 'Wazir-e-Azam' (Prime Minister) and 'Sadr-e-Riyasat' (head of state). These were later removed by them. God willing, we will get these nomenclatures back.” Abdullah was criticised by PM Modi who termed the NC’s demand as a serious issue and sought an answer from the Congress.
