New Delhi: Responding to the allegations of illegal distribution of Covid-19 medicines, Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir on Friday asked Opposition parties not to indulge in politicisation of due process.
Days after offering free 'Fabiflu' (anti-viral drug used for treatment of Covid-19) to those in need, BJP MP was served with a notice from the Delhi Police seeking a reply over its distribution.
Gambhir, last month, distributed anti-viral drug for free in his constituency amid acute shortage of the medicine in hospitals, with Opposition parties terming it to be the reason why critical medicines are out of stock.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Delhi took to Twitter and wrote: "Delhi Police has asked for a reply from us & we’ve provided all details. I will keep serving Delhi & its people to the best of my abilities always!"

A senior Police official informed news agency PTI that High Court has directed the city police to conduct inquiry into politicians involved in distribution of Covid-19 medicines and other items and take steps for lodging of FIR in case of offence.

As per the information available, the HC has asked the police to examine the instances of politicians allegedly procuring and distributing Remdesivir, used in treatment of COVID-19 patients.
HC directive came after a writ filed was filed by Dr Deepak Singh about politicians involved in the illegal distribution of Covid medicines.
Names given by the petitioner Singh, chairman of the non-profit Hrudaya Foundation, in his complaint Gambhir, Srinivas as well as BJP MP Sujay Vikhe, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress MLA Mukesh Sharma.
