Arun Jaitley lauds NIA for ISIS-inspired terror module crackdown
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lashed out at the UPA saying 'Were the maximum intercepts done during the UPA Government', Jaitley said that National security and sovereignty are paramount.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on Thursday, praised the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for busting the ISIS-inspired terror module. In a series of tweets, Jaitley said that the crackdown would not have been possible without 'interception of electronic communications'. "Well done NIA for cracking the dangerous terrorist module... Would this crackdown of the terrorist module by NIA have been possible without interception of electronic communications?"Jaitley said in a series of tweets on Thursday morning.
Jaitley lashed out at the UPA saying 'Were the maximum intercepts done during the UPA Government', Jaitley said that National security and sovereignty are paramount. "Life and personal liberty will survive only in a strong democratic nation – not in a terrorist dominated State," he said.
The NIA, on Wednesday carried out 16 raids in Delhi and UP, arresting 10 suspects who were allegedly planning suicide attacks targeting top politicians and government installations in Delhi and other parts of India. The premier investigating agency recovered a locally made rocket launcher, suicide vests and over 100 alarm clocks were recovered during the searches.
"The members were in advanced stage of preparation. They were just waiting for the successful assembly of bombs and wanted to hit multiple locations using remote-controlled IEDs and pipe bombs and carry out Fidayeen attacks using suicide vests," (NIA) Inspector General Alok Mittal was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
