Five killed as massive fire engulfs two adjacent hotels in Lucknow

Lucknow: Massive fire that broke out in two hotels in Lucknow resulted in the death of five persons on Tuesday.

  Fire tenders were rushed to contain the blaze. It took more than two hours for the fire fighters to douse the raging flames. However as per ANI reports, Lucknow IG said that the number of those deceased is 4. "4 people have died & more than 50 people were rescued from the building. Cause of fire still to be ascertained. If we find any lapse on hotel's part during our investigation, we will take strict action against the people concerned" S Pandey, IG Lucknow told ANI on Charbagh fire incident Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Kumar said the fire started in the basement and soon leaped to the upper floors. Senior district officials were present at the spot and overseeing search and rescue operations. Police officials told IANS they can still not rule out the likelihood of some people or bodies trapped inside the hotel rooms. The five victim include a woman and a child. They were staying at the Virat International Hotel.
