Prime Minister Modi wished that this day should carry forward the spirit of collective sympathy, harmony, and inclusion in the service of the greater good.

New Delhi: The festival of Eid-al-Azha or Bakrid is being celebrated with great pomp across the country. On this occasion, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the countrymen. President Kovind said that it is a festival that underlines the importance of working together for unity and brotherhood in an inclusive society. On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi wished that this day should carry forward the spirit of collective sympathy, harmony, and inclusion in the service of the greater good.

President Kovind tweeted, "Eid Mubarak to all countrymen! Eid-Uz-Zuha is a festival to pay respect to the spirit of love, sacrifice and to work together for unity and brotherhood in an inclusive society. Let us take a pledge to work for the welfare of every section of the society by adopting preventive measures against Covid-19.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Eid Mubarak! Best wishes for Eid-ul-Adha. May this day carry forward the spirit of collective empathy, harmony, and inclusion in the service of the greater good."

The festival of Bakrid is also remembered as the day of sacrifice. According to the Islamic calendar, Bakrid, the festival of sacrifice, comes two months after Ramadan. Eid-al-Adha is not called Bakrid in any place other than our country. Goat is usually sacrificed on this day, so in our country it is also called Bakrid. On this day goats are sacrificed for the sake of Allah. This religious process is called Farz-e-Qurban.

On this special occasion, special Eid-ul-Adha prayers are offered in Idgahs and major mosques from 6.00 am to 10.30 am. Let us tell you that due to the horror of corona infection last year, people had to offer prayers from home.
