Earthquake measuring 4.2 on Richter scale jolts northern India
New Delhi: A medium intensity earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale jolted the national capital and parts of northern India on early Thursday morning, when most of the people were asleep.
Even in Delhi, people witnessed the tremors in the middle of their sleeps, which made them get up and reach out for safer corners.
According to United States Geological Survey, the quake shook the national capital at around 4.30 am and was epicentred 13 kilometres southeast of Bawal in Haryana. The earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres, it said.
There was no immediate loss of life and property reported from anywhere in the city.
Many people tweeted about the earthquake despite the tremor hitting early in the morning.
